Bob Belhouse Biography

Bob Belhouse is a life-long resident of British Columbia, living in the Greater Vancouver area until 1991 when he and his wife, Connie, moved to Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island. In April 2006 Bob and Connie relocated to the Yellow Point area, near Ladysmith.

Photography has been a serious hobby since high school. Bob has experimented with many darkroom techniques over the years and won several awards in photo exhibitions while at University. Having converted to digital photography in mid-2003, he finds the infinite flexibility of the “computer darkroom” to be fascinating and artistically exciting. It has allowed him to use his computer knowledge to merge his photographic skills with his previous endeavours in oil painting. By superimposing various digital manipulations to a photograph, making it look like a painting, he has developed a style he calls Photo-Impressionism.
His studio in Yellow Point is open weekends from
10 to 4.
Other times are available by appointment.
Accomplishments

Since 2005, a number of his works have been exhibited at The Old Schoolhouse in Qualicum Beach and at the Nanaimo and Ladysmith Arts Council galleries and several are available at the Englishman River Gallery in Parksville and at Bayview Framing in Ladysmith.

Several pieces are on permanent display at local resorts, including Kiwi Cove Lodge and Yellow Point Lodge.

Through sales at his recently opened Yellow Point gallery, his work is included in the private collections of visitors from across Canada and from the United States.
