An Artist’s Biography
Debra Wapple
Debra Wapple is a watercolour/pastel artist living in Ladysmith. She was born in Vancouver but spent her childhood and early adult life on the prairies, where she began by drawing horses as a child. Her artistic interest was influenced by her mother who now is a recognized photographer and painter in the Nanaimo area. Both her grandmother and grandfather were artists also. She has painted on and off through the years but her artistic career began in earnest with a one year art sabatical in South Africa, during her career as an elementary teacher.
Many positive comments have been made about her ability to teach art, most center around her warm, encouraging support and belief in her students’ abilities.
Her favourite quote is “Discover the art in yourself”.
