March Break Art Classes for Kids

Class description: “Fun and Educational”. Students paint their own stories and make fun projects designed around the B.C. Visual Arts curriculum. Lessons / tutorials include contour drawing, painting, print making, sculpture, and photography. Tutorials include the elements and principles of Color and Design.”

Class size: 10 to 15 students

Date: Monday to Friday March 19 - 23 or/ and March 26-29 

Time offered: 9:00 - 12:00 noon  & 9:00 to 1:00 for the March 26-29 days  Cost per student: $98.00    Cost of material fee per person: $25.00

Material list if required for class: Bring your favorite small objects to class. We will make artwork from it.

After School Art With Barry

Instructor: Barry Strasbourg-Thompson BFA


Class description: Come join us for 6 classes of fun!  Each month has its own theme which teaches students how to tell a story using visual language.  September's theme Famous and Favorite Sports, October is Great Ghouls & Ghosts Stories, November is Favorite Voices and Movie Stars, and December is favorite Love Story month. Come and create some exciting art with us. Practice with a variety of mediums such as painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, collage or sculpture!

Summer Art Camp with Barry  Instructor: Barry Strasbourg-Thompson BFA

Two week long fun art camps this summer for those who love to create.   Students will be making paintings, printmaking, photography, sculpture and drawing and all the mess will be in our classroom.   Students will advance their own artistic "Voice" and enjoy the freedom of creating what they love.  Wear comfortabe clothing that you don't mind getting paint on  and bring a snack and something to drink for break time.  

10 to 15 students

Time offered: 9-12 noon

Open Studio is available to those who have taken a Printmaking Class or who are already familiar with printmaking.  Bring in all those ideas you can't fit into your own workshop and work independently.

Acrylics Class

This class is designed to accommodate a beginner or intermediate students. Instructions meet all levels in either acrylics . You are required to bring your supplies along which may be what you already have or bring a red, yellow, blue, white and black.  This class is all about having fun while learning to open the muse.

Explore the freshness and simplicity of watercolor in this set of four classes. The emphasis will be on freeing up brushwork and developing skills.

 This gentle introduction to simple sketching will show you that drawing can be intuitive rather than intimidating. Come discover & appreciate the artist within you.

Material list: Bring you lunch, a sketchbook or scrap paper as well as larger newsprint paper (18x24 works well), pencils, smoothly flowing black ink pens, charcoal, and other favorite drawing supplies. For exercises where we'll use lots of ink you'll want some inexpensive ball-point pens. It's best to bring more than you think you'll need!

Drawing is the foundation of visual art. When your drawing skills improve, you are bound to improve in your chosen art. For all skill levels.
