About the Gallery
Who We Are
The Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery (LAC) is a community based not-for-profit art gallery located in Ladysmith, BC. The Town of Ladysmith generously provides space for a gallery, classrooms and artist studio space in the old Machine Shop located on Oyster Bay Dr. overlooking the Ladysmith Harbour. The Waterfront Galley has been in operation since October 2006 and the Arts Council of Ladysmith and District was formed in 2003. The council is a 100% volunteer organization.
Visitors to The Waterfront Gallery enjoy a diverse program of changing exhibitions ranging from historic to cutting-edge contemporary art, photography, design and crafts, all community friendly exhibitions. The visual arts program is fundamental to the Gallery. The Gallery provides a venue and opportunity for all members, including a public gallery with a strong community connection. The LAC is interested in assisting visitors and members as they learn about art. The gallery space is envisioned by LAC Board members and members of LAC as a centre for community building which aims to energize and support our cultural producers. We are committed to presenting stimulating exhibitions which are aesthetically strong, intellectually challenging and positive visual art experiences for all. A particular interest in projects that engage our community while crossing social and class lines in valuing multiple audiences is paramount to our visual art experiences. As well, and as another bonus, The Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery is proud to admit all guests free of charge.
